Boksburg Husband Accused Of Drugging, Filming And Sharing Wife Abuse In Sick Online Plot

The Boksburg Magistrate’s Court has postponed a disturbing case involving a Gauteng man accused of violating his wife over several years.

The 35-year-old accused, along with a co-accused, briefly appeared in court on Friday to face a string of serious charges. The matter has been delayed to allow for a formal bail application.

The main accused is facing charges including rape, sexual assault, possession of child pornography, and the distribution of intimate images without consent.

Boksburg Police Probe Claims of Drugging and Secret Filming

According to the South African Police Service, the case was uncovered following intelligence received from the National Crime Agency through the British High Commission.

SAPS spokesperson Amanda van Wyk said investigators initially had limited information but managed to identify and track the suspect using specialised methods.

“They shared an intelligence report with us regarding a South African target. At that time, we had little to almost nothing on the suspect, but with innovative investigative techniques, we were able to trace and locate the suspect we arrested yesterday in Boksburg,” van Wyk said.

She added that the alleged abuse took place over a period of five years.

“He performed sexual acts on his wife, who appeared sedated and unconscious during these acts. This material was then shared on an exclusive social media channel,” she said.

Digital Evidence Links Second Accused to Similar Crimes

The National Prosecuting Authority confirmed that a multidisciplinary team used digital forensic tools to build the case.

Spokesperson Magaboke Mohlatlole said the first suspect was arrested in Boksburg after police searched his home and seized a cellphone believed to contain incriminating footage.

“A search of his residence reportedly led to the seizure of a cellular phone containing the alleged recordings, as well as additional material suspected to be child pornography,” Mohlatlole said.

Further analysis of the device led investigators to the second accused, who was later arrested.

He faces additional charges, including the alleged exploitation of a child for the production of child pornography, as well as possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Authorities also confiscated firearms and ammunition from his home.

Alleged Online Group Shared Disturbing Content

Investigators believe both accused were part of a social media group where explicit material involving alleged drugging and non-consensual acts was circulated.

“Preliminary investigations suggest that both accused may have been part of a social media group where content depicting alleged drugging and non-consensual sexual acts was shared and circulated,” Mohlatlole said.

The case has been postponed to 1 April for bail proceedings.

“The NPA reiterates its unwavering commitment to the effective prosecution of gender-based violence and crimes against children and to ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable in accordance with the law,” Mohlatlole added.
