Decomposing Body Found In Cornubia After Foul Odour Report

A foul, pungent odour led to the grim discovery of a decomposing body in Cornubia, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), late Monday, March 10, 2025.

The body, found hanging in a home, was identified as a male who had not been seen for several days.

Resident Reports Foul Smell

The investigation was initiated when a concerned resident of a housing complex contacted the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre.

The resident reported a strong, decaying smell emanating from a nearby home.

RUSA officers were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they were led inside the home, where they discovered the severely decomposed body of a man.

Victim Identified By Neighbours

The victim was found hanging by a rope attached to a burglar bar.

His identity was confirmed by neighbours who noted that the man had been last seen drinking with friends on Thursday, March 6, 2025.

According to the neighbours, since that time, his family had been unable to contact him by phone, as his cell phone remained unanswered.

Friend Makes Grim Discovery

The victim’s family was alerted by neighbours about the foul odour coming from the residence.

A friend of the deceased entered the house after noticing the door was unlocked, making the shocking discovery.

The cause of death remains unclear, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
