Black Coffee Tells His Side: “I Created My Own Version Of Marriage”

After years of silence and side-eyes from the timeline, DJ Black Coffee has finally spilled some tea about what really went down in his marriage to actress Enhle Mbali — and babes, it’s deeper than just cheating allegations.
In a rare, heartfelt interview, the internationally acclaimed DJ admitted that his approach to marriage was shaped by his own childhood trauma. “I modelled marriage my own way. Alone… because of my upbringing and my parents failing in marriage… I created my own world,” he revealed.

He admitted he was so focused on leading the relationship that he forgot he wasn’t the only one in the car. “You wanna be the driver of this thing so much that you forget that there’s someone next to you who holds the map.”
Shew. Not Black Coffee saying he was driving blind with Enhle sitting there with the directions the whole time.
Luxury Cars But No Tears? “A Part of Me Was Dying”
Now this part? Whew. Black Coffee said he was doing the most to make Enhle Mbali happy — but sis just wasn’t giving the reaction he hoped for.
“Every time I would make a move that I thought was big for us and it wasn’t received like that, a part of me was dying,” he confessed.
He even gave an example: “I bought her a luxury car expecting tears… and she just said ‘thank you.’”
Yoh, men really think gifts transform emotional connection. Twitter is gonna eat this up.

Black Coffee Says It Was Not Just Cheating
While Enhle previously cited infidelity as the reason for the split, Black Coffee says the downfall went far beyond cheating. The lack of mutual understanding, emotional connection, and his own need for control tore things apart slowly — not suddenly.
But don’t get it twisted — he’s not shifting blame. He actually owned up to a lot. “There’s a driver and there’s a navigator, and both of you are important,” he said, reflecting on how he sidelined his partner’s role.
At the end of the day, it’s giving: Even the most powerful men can fumble the most important relationships. And Black Coffee just gave the nation a masterclass in how not to do marriage — but also how to grow through the pain.
