Banyana Banyana defeated Equatorial Guinea in Group B of the Africa Women Cup of Nations held at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in Ghana.

She was positive that the 7-1 victory over the West African country has given them the momentum that will hold them in good stead for the upcoming fixture. The victory has place Banyana Banyana in the lead on Group B with 6 Points.

Mzansi was amazed with Banyana Banyana’s accomplishment, with some people comparing the team to Bafana Bafana. Their male counterparts have not had a triumph run this year.

Thembi Kgatlana was the star of the game, scoring two of the seven goals. The South African team is expected to play Zambia on November 24.

“It was not an easy win, looking at the way we started the game, getting two goals and then getting a goal against us. It somehow kind of gave them a chance to say they can still come back and they tried to make things difficult for us. But then come the second half we had to up it a bit and attack and capitalise on their mistakes and score more goals,” Jane, who scored Banyana’s third goal early in the second half, told SAFA Media.

Many emphasized the need for the South African Football Association to invest more in the team as their performance speaks for itself. The South African team is expected to play Zambia on November 24.
