Baby Nikita Murder Trial Set For July 2026 As Parents Remain In Custody

The parents of a four-year-old girl, Baby Nikita, charged with her murder, are expected to remain behind bars for another four months as they await trial on 27 July 2026.

The child was allegedly raped and severely assaulted by her father at their family home in Eldorado Park last year.

Reports indicate that the young girl’s badly bruised body was found inside the one-bedroom shack the family rented.

She was first taken to a nearby clinic before being transferred to Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Johannesburg High Court Proceedings And Baby Nikita Trial Timeline

The accused have remained in custody since August last year.

During their second appearance at the Johannesburg High Court on Thursday, proceedings confirmed that the couple intends to plead not guilty to all charges.

The court also set the trial date for late July, with proceedings expected to begin on 27 July 2026.

Custody Status And Expected Duration Of Trial

According to information presented in court, the trial is expected to run for approximately 15 days. The couple will remain in custody until the case is heard.

Authorities continue preparations for the upcoming trial as the matter moves through the legal process.
