Gqom queen Babes Wodumo is taking a bold new step in her music career. The Wololo hitmaker recently gave fans a sneak peek into the studio, where she’s been crafting her highly anticipated EP — this time with a twist.

Instead of sticking strictly to gqom, Babes is experimenting with maskandi-inspired sounds that promise a refreshing new vibe.

Sharing a behind-the-scenes video on social media, Babes was seen vibing with a group of young dancers while teasing what fans can expect from her latest project.

“One with my EP, bengishoda ngomaskandi feel, I wanted to do this differently. Impela, I do have friends who are maskandi artists, but I came across these young girls (Ushuni waseMzini) and that’s when it hit me. Ground talent is just perfect. Super talented girls who love music like I do,” she explained.

EP Completed and Packed With Surprising Features

The star revealed that her upcoming EP is officially complete and ready for release. While fans might expect her usual gqom-heavy sound, Babes promised a fresh mix with unexpected collaborations.

“Finally my EP is done. Fresh music, not gqom kuphela, most features will shock everyone. Guys ngiyacula 😂 Can’t wait for you to hear my EP. Yep, I’m ready!” she wrote with excitement.

Babes expressed gratitude to the dancers and their parents for supporting her vision and joining her on this new musical journey.
