Babes Wodumo Breaks Down In Tears As Comeback Album Ekhoneni Smashes 500K Streams “It’s You Guys”
Gqom queen Babes Wodumo is back on top — and this time, it’s personal. The Durban-born hitmaker has just hit a major milestone as her comeback album Ekhoneni surpassed 500,000 streams, leaving her both humbled and tearful.
After taking a long break from the spotlight, Babes made her long-awaited return on 3 October 2025, releasing Ekhoneni — an album that quickly set social media buzzing and fans dancing once again.
A month later, on 10 November, the Wololo star took to Instagram to share a nostalgic video of herself dancing with her sister, Nondumiso Simelane. But it was her heartfelt caption that truly moved fans.

“Looking back, God indeed never fails. The journey of loss was the most painful part of my life, but I stood still and waited on the Lord’s guidance. I took a leap of faith and came back stronger than before,” Babes wrote.
She continued, “I must admit that it was never easy, but God had my back and was always available to wipe my tears. EKHONENI has over 500k streams, the whole album is even more, and it’s not me, it’s you guys, never giving up on me and reminding me it’s now the time.”
A Tribute to Her Late Grandmother and Fans’ Unwavering Support
The singer also opened up about the emotional story behind the song featured in her post, revealing that it was her late grandmother’s favourite hymn.
“God gave me umthwalo cause he knew kungenzeka. I sang this song with tears rolling down my face; it was my grandmother’s (umaka baba) favourite song before prayer.
