Aunt Of Slain Mamelodi Women Denies Claims Nieces Were With Men For Money

The family of two young women from Mamelodi, brutally murdered over the weekend, say they are devastated not only by their loss but also by the cruel rumours circulating online.
Twenty-one-year-old Baleseng Moramaga and her 22-year-old cousin Tshiamo Moramaga were gunned down in the early hours of Sunday morning after a night out with friends.

Police have confirmed that a 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the double murder.
According to reports, the cousins were allegedly shot by a man romantically involved with one of them. The attack took place shortly after they had returned from a local hangout spot just a few streets from their home.
Family Condemns Online Criticism
In the wake of the tragedy, the family has faced a wave of social media backlash, with some users criticising the victims for being out late at night.
Their aunt, Maki Moramaga, said the family is heartbroken by the comments, which she described as false and deeply unfair.

“It’s a lie that my girls were with men for money. How would they do that? Men killing you these days for their money. Tshiamo was a beautician who offered makeup and hair services for a living and Baleseng was a third-year education student. It’s not true,” she said.
Community Support as Family Prepares for Burial
As neighbours and community members continue to visit the Moramaga home to pay their respects, the family is now preparing to lay the cousins to rest.
The pair will be buried in Lukau Village, Limpopo, on Saturday, where friends and relatives are expected to gather to say their final goodbyes.
