Atteridgeville Shootout: Three Suspects Killed, Two Injured In Police Crossfire

Three suspects were fatally shot and two others injured during a crossfire with police in Atteridgeville on the night of 23 September 2025.

The incident unfolded when SAPS Highway Patrol, working alongside private security companies, acted on intelligence about a gang allegedly linked to hijackings around Pretoria.

Atteridgeville Shootout: High-Speed Chase Ends In Gun Battle

Authorities had been on the lookout for the suspects’ vehicle when it was spotted. According to police, attempts to stop the car led to a high-speed chase, which quickly escalated into a shootout.

Three suspects were killed in the exchange, while two were rushed to hospital with injuries.

Police confirmed the recovery of three unlicensed firearms with ammunition, as well as signal jammers, gloves, balaclavas, and the vehicle used by the suspects.

Investigations into the case are ongoing.
