Gauteng Police Officer Arrested  For Drug Possession, Stolen Vehicle

A 44-year-old police officer from Gauteng  have been  arrested for drug possession,and suspected stolen vehicle.

The suspect was arrested on Wednesday afternoon, 19 March 2025, along the N1 South outside Polokwane.

The officer, a constable from the Silverton detectives component, was found with 2,095 sachets of nyaope, valued at approximately R85,000.

He was also driving a Nissan NP200 with Gauteng registration plates, which police suspect to be stolen.

Police Officer Detained And Facing Charges

In addition to the drugs and the suspected stolen vehicle, the officer’s service pistol was confiscated during the arrest.

The suspect was detained at Westernburg police station and is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court today, Thursday, 20 March 2025.

No One Is Above The Law

Limpopo police commissioner Lt-Gen Thembi Hadebe emphasized that any police officer breaking the law would face severe consequences.

He stated that, the arrest serves as a reminder that no one is above the law.
