Apple TV+ Shines At 2025 Primetime Emmys With Severance And The Studio

Streaming giants once again ruled the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, leaving traditional networks in the shadows. Apple TV+ emerged as the standout, securing seven awards in total.

Its comedy series The Studio scooped four major wins: Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor (Seth Rogen), Outstanding Directing (Rogen and Evan Goldberg), and Outstanding Writing.

In a lighthearted acceptance speech, Rogen shared, “I’ve never won anything in my life. When I was a kid I bought a used bowling trophy.”

Apple TV+ also celebrated acting victories for Severance. Britt Lower won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, while Tramell Tillman earned Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

HBO Max Surprises with The Pitt and Hacks

While Severance dominated in acting, HBO Max’s medical drama The Pitt pulled off an upset, winning Outstanding Drama Series. The show also earned Noah Wyle the Outstanding Lead Actor award and Katherine LaNasa Outstanding Supporting Actress.

HBO Max’s comedy Hacks added to the platform’s haul, with Jean Smart named Outstanding Lead Actress and Hannah Einbinder taking Outstanding Supporting Actress.

Netflix Scores with Adolescence as Networks Fade

Netflix secured one of the night’s biggest honors with its limited series Adolescence, which won Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. The show also earned acting trophies for Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper, and Erin Doherty.

At just 15, Cooper became the youngest male winner of a Primetime acting Emmy. Adolescence further claimed Emmys for Outstanding Directing and Outstanding Writing in its category.

Meanwhile, legacy networks were mostly sidelined. CBS managed a single win for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, a show canceled in August. NBC claimed victory with the Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special.

HBO also added to its tally with Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and wins for The Penguin (Cristin Milioti, Outstanding Lead Actress) and Somebody Somewhere (Jeff Hiller, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series).
