Apple CEO Tim Cook Confirms AI Acquisitions And Partnerships On The Horizon

Apple is signalling a continued focus on artificial intelligence, with CEO Tim Cook confirming the tech giant remains open to acquisitions and partnerships to advance its AI ambitions.

During the company’s Q4 2025 earnings call this week, Cook also provided an update on Apple’s next-generation, AI-powered Siri, which is on track for a 2026 release.

“We’re making good progress on it, and as we’ve shared, we expect to release it next year,” Cook said in his opening remarks.

Apple Eyes AI Acquisitions and Partnerships to Strengthen Siri

Analysts on the call asked whether the company is maintaining its three-pronged AI strategy—using in-house foundation models, third-party LLM partnerships, and acquisitions. Cook confirmed the company is open to acquisitions when they support its roadmap.

“We continually surveil the market on M&A and are open to pursuing M&A if we think that it will advance our roadmap,” he said.

In a pre-earnings interview with CNBC, Cook added that Apple plans to announce additional AI partnerships similar to its collaboration with OpenAI, which integrates ChatGPT into Siri and Apple Intelligence.

“Our intention is to integrate with more people over time,” Cook told CNBC.

Private Cloud Compute Expands Apple’s AI Capabilities

Cook also highlighted the company’s development of foundation models that run on devices and in its Private Cloud Compute system, designed for secure, private AI processing. The technology is already being used to handle several Siri queries, with infrastructure expansion underway.

“In fact, the manufacturing plant that makes the servers used for Apple Intelligence just started manufacturing in Houston a few weeks ago, and we’ve got a ramp planned there for use in our data centers. And, you know, it’s robust,” Cook said.

He further noted AI’s growing influence on consumer behaviour, particularly in the smartphone market.

“I would say that Apple Intelligence is a factor, and we’re very bullish on it becoming a greater factor,” Cook said.
