Angelo Agrizzi Ordered To Pay State More Than R1.6 Billion In Corruption Confiscation Order
The former Bosasa COO faces a massive financial penalty following his conviction on corruption and money laundering charges linked to the company’s unlawful government contracts.

Former Bosasa chief operating officer Angelo Agrizzi has been ordered to pay the State more than R1.6 billion in a corruption-related confiscation order.
The order follows Agrizzi’s conviction last year on three counts of corruption and one count of money laundering, stemming from his involvement in a corruption network that secured government contracts through bribery.
The court found that Agrizzi benefited from Bosasa’s unlawful activities and rejected his argument that the amount payable should be limited to the money he personally received.
Court Rejects Agrizzi’s Attempt To Limit The Amount
In its ruling, the court found that Agrizzi had benefited from the broader unlawful activities carried out through Bosasa.

It also found that he had failed to fully disclose his financial affairs and had concealed assets, including property held abroad.
The findings formed part of the court’s consideration of the amount to be recovered from the former Bosasa executive.
NPA Says Corruption Proceeds Will Be Recovered
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) welcomed the order, saying it sends a clear message that people involved in corruption can face consequences beyond imprisonment.
The authority said those who participate in corruption risk losing the financial proceeds and benefits derived from their criminal activities.
