Angel Zuma Exposes ‘Horrible’ Exit From Umkhokha: The Curse “‘I Was Threatened And Betrayed”

South African actress Angel Zuma has broken her silence on what she calls a horrendous experience behind the scenes of Mzansi Magic’s Umkhokha: The Curse before her shocking exit.

Sis did not hold back in her bombshell YouTube videos, spilling all the tea on how things allegedly went south the moment she announced her departure. And trust, the drama wasn’t just on-screen!

‘I Was Threatened & Betrayed’

Angel, who has since moved to Canada after bagging the iconic role of Rafiki in The Lion King, claims she faced intense backlash after resigning from the hit telenovela.

According to the actress, who played Nomkhosi Mthembu, industry veterans didn’t take her resignation well. Instead of a warm send-off, she says she was met with intimidation, betrayal, and even threats to ruin her career.

In one of the videos, she let her emotions out, saying: “I never thought in my life these people would do such things to me just because I said I’m leaving, because I resigned. Guys, it was horrible.”

Sis was deep in her feels as she continued: “Can we normalise that when a person resigns, there’s nothing you can do to convince them to stay? Just send them well, man. Let them go in peace. You don’t need to fight them, pull strings, and use connections to try and stop this person from thriving.”

Not Angel Zuma practically telling the industry to let people breathe!

‘That Place Was Going to Kill Me’

The star revealed that the toxicity got so bad she fell into depression after resigning.

Although she didn’t drop names (yet), she claimed that some industry bigwigs tried to block her from getting opportunities. “I’ve never cried so much in my life. I’ve never been so hurt and disappointed. I felt betrayed. That place was going to kill me. My future was threatened there.”

Now, we all know Umkhokha: The Curse is famous for its hectic behind-the-scenes shakeups—Angel Zuma’s exit just adds to the growing list of actors who have left under murky circumstances.

Mzansi Reacts: ‘We Need to Talk About This Industry’

Mzansi is already buzzing over Angel’s revelation, with many calling out the local entertainment industry for how it allegedly treats actors.

Some fans pointed out how many talented stars leave South Africa for international gigs, with Angel Zuma being the latest name to join that list.

“This industry is so toxic! Why are actors forced to suffer in silence?” one fan commented.

“Now we know why so many SA actors move overseas. It’s tough here!” another wrote.

Meanwhile, Mzansi Magic and Umkhokha: The Curse have remained tight-lipped on Angel’s accusations. But if history has taught us anything, they might just sweep this one under the rug.

Sis may have been mistreated, but karma is working overtime because she is already thriving abroad.

With a major role in The Lion King and a fresh start in Canada, Angel has made it clear that no one could stop her shine. And clearly, she’s not afraid to talk about it either!
