Anele Mdoda Rallies Behind Miss Zimbabwe For Miss Universe After Mia Le Roux Bows Out

After Miss SA Mia le Roux decided to pull out from Miss Universe, radio queen Anele Mdoda didn’t waste any time picking a new contestant to cheer for.

She’s now all about Miss Zimbabwe, Sakhile Dube. Anele hopped on X (yep, the app formerly known as Twitter) to show her love after spotting Sakhile’s jaw-dropping national costume.

She posted, “This lady is our pick now that our Mia is looking after her health.”

Online Reactions

The reactions? Oh boy, they were all over the place. On one side, you’ve got fans who are ready to wave the Zimbabwean flag right along with her.

@FortunateKgomo couldn’t agree more, saying, “I definitely believe that Miss Zimbabwe has a big chance of winning Miss Universe. She’s everything!” Total support vibes.

But then, not everyone’s on the same page. @OOhnuh was like, “Bathong Botswana? Haibo, who are you speaking for, le gone?”

And @GeorgeVimba had a totally different take: “Oh hell no, I’d rather support Miss Mexico from the host country.” Talk about divided opinions!

Some people even brought up the “what if” scenario. @Samacosmetics20 chimed in with, “No one would divert their support to us if the tables were turned. Everyone hates us, and that we know. So I’m neutral. May the best contestant win.” A bit of a reality check there.

For others, it’s all about that Pan-African pride. @FMusiamo proudly stated, “No other candidate can represent us well; we’re rooting for her also.” Can’t argue with the love for our African sisters, right?

And then there are the neutrals like @The_CitizenZA who said, “Myself, I remain neutral; I’m too patriotic to vote for any other country.” Keeping it real for Mzansi first and foremost.

All in all, Miss Universe has got us all talking. Whether you’re team Miss Zimbabwe or got your eyes on another contestant, this year’s pageant is definitely stirring up some major feels and conversations.

What Happened to Miss SA?

Did you know? Mia le Roux made history as the first deaf winner of Miss South Africa and the first deaf contestant to participate in the Miss Universe pageant.

She was diagnosed with profound hearing loss when she was just a year old and relies on a cochlear implant.
