Okay so Anele Mdoda opened her mouth on her own podcast and now half of X owes her rent for the discourse. On "The Anele Podcast: Her & Now," sitting in that soft, flower-filled studio with the pink 1st for Women mic doing its thing, she got into her financial history with exes — and didn't sugarcoat a single bit of it.
Her claim: not one man she's dated has out-earned her. Ever. She was careful to add a caveat though — some of them looked loaded, driving nice things, living nice lives, but dig a little and it was family money. Inherited, not earned. "That was generational money," as she put it. Not the same thing, and she wants you to know she knows the difference.
Why The Anele Mdoda Money Talk Actually Makes Sense (Sort Of)
She traced it back to starting work at 16 — young enough that being financially independent just became her default setting.
No expecting a man to carry her, no letting a man expect the same from her. "I would go in — I want nothing, you want nothing. Let's just see where it goes," she said. The one non-negotiable, in her words: "I'm not going to look after you."
