ANC To Brief Media On Local Government Action Plan In Johannesburg

Senior officials from the African National Congress (ANC), including party president Cyril Ramaphosa, are set to address the media at Luthuli House in Johannesburg on Monday morning.

The briefing is expected to centre on the party’s Local Government Action Plan, a strategy aimed at addressing governance challenges at municipal level.

This follows the ruling party’s Councillor Roll Call held in September last year, which brought together more than 6,000 councillors and mayors from across the country.

ANC Local Government Action Plan Targets Accountability And Service Delivery

Key themes from the earlier gathering included holding leaders accountable for service delivery shortcomings and rebuilding public confidence ahead of the 2026 local government elections.

The party secretary-general Fikile Mbalula said the party would provide an update on developments linked to the plan.

“Led by the President at Luthuli House on Monday, we will brief the media on the work done around the action plan on local government,” said Mbalula.

ANC Leadership To Engage Johannesburg Communities On Governance Challenges

Mbalula added that party leaders will also interact directly with residents in Johannesburg following the briefing.

“We will then visit the Metro of Johannesburg in terms of the work that has been done and the challenges that have been faced by the Joburg Metro. All Top Seven, NWC and NEC members will be deployed along the length and breadth of Johannesburg Metro this coming Monday,” he added.

The party says these engagements form part of broader efforts to reinforce governance structures and improve service delivery within municipalities.
