Amanda du-Pont is no stranger to speaking her truth, and once again, the actress has opened up about her painful past, this time in light of the ongoing Cwecwe case that has gripped the nation.

In an emotional video, the actress expressed her frustration with the justice system, stating that she felt failed when her rape case against musician and TV personality Jub Jub was dismissed. Now, she fears that history may repeat itself and that the system could also fail Cwecwe, a young victim whose case is currently under investigation.

History That Shocked Mzansi

Amanda’s shocking allegations against Jub Jub sent Mzansi into a frenzy when she first broke her silence, years after their relationship had ended. She accused him of multiple sexual assaults, dating back to 2007, including an alleged incident where he raped her while her 11-year-old sister was sleeping in the same bed.

She claimed that despite numerous assaults, she continued to stay with him, even moving in together in 2008, where she says the abuse continued. The trauma allegedly pushed her to the brink, leading her to attempt suicide twice.

However, in July 2024, the case took a devastating turn for Amanda. The state withdrew all criminal charges against Jub Jub, citing “no reasonable prospects of a successful prosecution”.
