Actress Ama Qamata, best known for her role on Netflix’s Blood & Water, is grieving the loss of her father, Marcus. Ama, whose full name is Amamkele Lithemba Qamata, also played Buhle, Katlego Danke’s on-screen daughter in Mzansi Magic’s Gomora.

On Sunday, 31 August 2025, the star took to Instagram to share the news, posting a series of personal photos of herself with her father. In a deeply emotional message, she wrote:

“In this moment nothing feels real, life will never be the same again. I love you, Marcus, and I wish I had the opportunity to tell you that one more time… Rest in eternal peace, papa, until we meet again.”

Her words captured the depth of her grief and the enduring bond she shared with Marcus.

Ama’s post quickly drew an outpouring of love from fans and fellow celebrities. Blood & Water actress Gail Mabalane expressed her condolences: “I’m so, so sorry, Ama. I am praying for you and the family. ‘God is close to the brokenhearted.’ I love you.”

Ama also shared a poignant Instagram story featuring her late father reflecting on her life and career. In the clip, Marcus recalls meeting her as a child:

“I’ve known Ama since she was 8 years old. She came into my life when I met her mother. I knew from the beginning that she wants to be a star… you did what you had to do and you did it and that is great and I applaud you for that.”
