Akon’s Wife Tomeka Thiam Files For Divorce After 30 Years Of Marriage

Akon’s wife, Tomeka Thiam, has filed for divorce just three days before what would have been their wedding anniversary. The couple, who tied the knot back in 1996, have been married for nearly 30 years.

According to court documents, Thiam cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for ending her long-standing marriage with the Grammy award-winning artist.

Custody Battle Over Their Teenage Daughter

The filings reveal that Thiam is asking for joint legal custody but sole physical custody of their 17-year-old daughter, Journey. She is also seeking spousal support from the 52-year-old “Lonely” hitmaker, while leaving the court the option to grant him support if necessary.

This divorce has once again brought attention to Akon’s closely guarded personal life.

Over the years, rumors have swirled about him practicing polygamy and allegedly fathering nine children. Despite the constant speculation, the singer has remained tight-lipped about his family dynamics.
