AKA’s Mom Lynn Forbes Breaks Hearts With Rare Throwback As Murder Case Heats Up Again

Mzansi is crying all over again. Lynn Forbes, the mother of late rap icon Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, has shared a deeply emotional throwback video that reminded fans of the joy, laughter, and love that once filled their family’s everyday moments — long before tragedy struck.
Taking to Instagram, Lynn gave the Megacy a rare glimpse into their happier times, posting a video of herself, AKA, and Kairo Forbes during their cherished family lunches. The clip instantly touched hearts, especially given the heavy developments surrounding AKA’s murder case this week.
“Forbes Fun Fridays” — A Family Tradition That Still Lives On
In her heartfelt caption, Lynn opened up about a special tradition they shared called “Forbes Fun Fridays.” These were unplanned, simple days filled with laughter, silliness, and normal family moments — the kind you don’t realise are priceless until they’re gone.
“Kiernan, Kairo and I had this thing called Forbes Fun Fridays, where we did unplanned, random things together… Those were special times. We would be silly, do normal family stuff and laugh so much, and sometimes we won’t agree.”

The video, filled with laughter and warmth, hit fans right in the chest. Many praised Lynn for protecting AKA’s memory with such grace and tenderness.
One follower, maaya_makaora, wrote:
“We hold him dearly in our hearts, Glammy. Thank you for being so kind with his memory. May his memories heal you and elevate you.”
Emotional Post Comes as AKA Murder Case Sees New Developments
The timing of Lynn’s post made it even heavier. It came just as Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande made a brief virtual appearance before the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 9 January 2026.
The Ndimande brothers were arrested in eSwatini and later extradited to South Africa, forming part of the group accused in connection with the murders of AKA and his close friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, who were gunned down in February 2023.

“I Really Appreciate It” — Lynn Forbes Faces Court for the First Time
In 2025, Lynn attended her very first court proceeding related to her son’s murder, after avoiding appearances since the case began. Following the proceedings, she expressed gratitude to those working tirelessly on the case, saying:
“I really appreciate it. I can only imagine all the hours that must go into all of this, and I don’t envy any of you, but thank you very much; you are appreciated.”
Her words reflected a mother’s quiet strength — exhausted by grief, but still hopeful for justice. For the Megacy, it wasn’t just a throwback — it was proof that AKA was deeply loved, deeply present, and deeply missed.
