ACSA Boosts Security At OR Tambo International Airport Ahead Of G20 Summit

Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has strengthened security measures at OR Tambo International Airport as the country prepares to welcome high-profile guests attending the G20 gathering in Johannesburg this weekend.

International delegates are expected to begin arriving from Thursday, travelling through OR Tambo, Waterkloof Air Force Base, and Lanseria International Airport before making their way to the Nasrec Expo Centre.

ACSA CEO Mpumi Mpofu emphasised the organisation’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all attendees while addressing the media on Wednesday.

“We have deployed additional security staff, which is called aviation security staff from ACSA. Within that is a new deployment of a tactical unit that has been deployed specifically to manage land side and air side problems.”

Heightened Airport Security for Incoming G20 Delegates

ACSA confirmed that its enhanced security plan includes increased personnel visibility and specialised units dedicated to monitoring both restricted and public zones of the airport.

These measures aim to streamline the arrival process while maintaining strict safety standards for visiting dignitaries.

With thousands of guests expected for the global summit, the collaboration between airports, security agencies, and event organisers has intensified.
