Nine Dead In Bekkersdal Tavern Shooting As Gunmen Open Fire In West Rand

Nine people have been killed in a deadly shooting at a tavern in Bekkersdal, in the West Rand.

The incident unfolded at KwaNoxolo Tavern, located in the Tambo section of Bekkersdal, where gunmen opened fire, leaving multiple patrons dead and others wounded.

Police confirmed that the violence was not confined to the tavern itself, with some victims reportedly shot outside in the street.

Bekkersdal Tavern Attack Leaves Community Reeling

Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said the shooting took place at KwaNoxolo Tavern and involved unknown gunmen. According to Mathe, several people were “randomly shot in the street” during the attack.

Emergency services responded to the scene, while police launched an investigation to trace those responsible for the mass shooting.
