83-Year-Old Granny Beaten, Sprayed With Doom Insecticide In Tongaat Brutal Domestic Attack

An elderly woman, aged 83, was left injured after a violent domestic assault at her home in Belvedere, Tongaat, KwaZulu-Natal. The incident occurred during the early hours of Tuesday morning at approximately 04:00.
According to reports, the victim was attacked by her 40-year-old son during an altercation inside the residence. She sustained multiple injuries and open wounds before fleeing the house to seek help.
Victim Sprayed With DOOM and Assaulted With Crutches
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was dispatched to the scene following reports of an injured elderly woman. Upon arrival, Reaction Officers found the victim severely beaten.

She explained that her son had sprayed DOON insecticide into her eyes before using her crutches to assault her. Emergency assistance was rendered while police were notified.
SAPS Arrest Suspect After Manhunt
A joint search by SAPS and Reaction Officers initially failed to locate the suspect. He was later tracked down and arrested days after the incident by Sergeant N. Singh and Captain Y. Nadas of SAPS Tongaat.
The arrest was made without incident. The case has been registered under Tongaat CAS 129/12/2025. The suspect has been formally charged with Assault with Intent to Cause Grievous Bodily Harm (Domestic Violence).
