Eight Suspects Arrested After Dramatic Centurion Business Robbery And Shootout

Eight men have been taken into custody following a daring business robbery at Sunderland Ridge in Centurion, south of Pretoria.

According to police, the suspects allegedly held up a store at gunpoint before loading stolen goods onto a truck. They fled the scene in the truck, which was reportedly escorted by another vehicle.

Security personnel were swiftly alerted and managed to trace both vehicles to the R55 road near Raslouw in Wierdabrug.

Shootout on R55 Leaves Two Injured

Gauteng Police Spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed that a shootout erupted between the suspects and security guards once the vehicles were located.

“Shots were fired between security personnel and suspects. In the process, one suspect and a security guard sustained gunshot injuries.

“The police were called during the shooting, and eight suspects, including the injured one, have since been arrested. Two firearms, the truck and the vehicle were also seized for further investigations,” said Nevhuhulwi.

Authorities have since launched a detailed investigation into the incident. The recovered firearms and vehicles are being analysed to determine whether they are linked to other criminal activities in the province.

Police have urged business owners to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity immediately, as operations to curb business robberies in Gauteng continue.
