6 Suspects Arrested In KZN After Ex-Personal Assistant Plots Kidnap, Robbery On Former Employer

The Port Shepstone Tactical Response Team (TRT) and local detectives have successfully apprehended six suspects allegedly involved in a shocking kidnapping and robbery case in Margate, KwaZulu-Natal.

The arrests took place after an intense investigation into an incident that occurred on March 30, 2025, involving the victim, a 39-year-old man, who was ambushed outside his Uvongo home.

Kidnapping And Robbery Scheme

According to KZN police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the victim was preparing to enter his vehicle when he was suddenly attacked by six armed men, along with a woman.

The victim recognized the woman as his former personal assistant from a municipality where he had previously worked.

The group forcibly took the man inside his home and allegedly coerced him into transferring large sums of money into the woman’s account.

The suspects then transported the victim to a nearby fuel station on the N2 northbound, demanding additional transfers.

When the victim informed them that his account was depleted, they set a deadline of April 1, 2025, for further payment.

Despite the fearsome tactics, police managed to track down the suspects within days of the incident.

Guns Recovered,One Suspect Still At Large

During the operation, eight firearms were recovered.

The suspects are set to appear in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court Thursday, April 3, 2025.

However, authorities are still searching for one additional suspect involved in the crime.
