41-Year-Old, Ben Tebogo Khazamula Bags Life Imprisonment For Rape

On Saturday, June 5, 2021, a 31-year-old woman’s night out with friends in Tokoza ended in a horrific attack. While the group stopped to get water, the complainant alighted from the vehicle.

As she approached a yard, an unknown man, later identified as Ben Tebogo Khazamula, ambushed her at the gate. He pointed a firearm at her, threatened to shoot her if she resisted, and then ordered her to act like his girlfriend.

Under the threat of extreme violence, he forced her to a secluded area where he raped her twice before finally releasing her.

The Investigation That Left No Stone Unturned

The case was immediately opened at the SAPS Tokoza station and was swiftly taken over by Warrant Officer Wonder Banger from the Katlehong Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit (FCS). Demonstrating exceptional dedication, WO Banger visited the crime scene without delay.

He interviewed key witnesses who had seen the accused earlier that evening and successfully obtained his name.

A meticulous investigation followed, leading to the discovery of Khazamula’s ID. Although the accused had gone into hiding, WO Banger’s excellent investigative work ensured his arrest on another case in Primrose, finally bringing him into custody.

A Life Sentence and a Warning to Perpetrators

The relentless pursuit of justice by WO Banger resulted in a successful conviction and the further linkage of Ben Tebogo Khazamula to two additional cases.

On August 13, 2025, the Palmridge Magistrate Court sentenced the 41-year-old to life imprisonment.

Ekurhuleni District Commissioner, Major General Anna Sithole, publicly commended the investigating officer. She praised Warrant Officer Wonder Banger for the dedication demonstrated on investigation, which led to the hefty sentence and squeezing the rapist’s space in the District.
