Four House Robbery Suspects Shot Dead In Centurion Police Shootout

Four alleged house robbery suspects were fatally shot during a dramatic confrontation with Gauteng Highway Patrol officers and private security in Centurion on Thursday. The operation was triggered after Crime Intelligence flagged a group suspected of terrorising residents in Tshwane South and northern Johannesburg.
According to police, officers identified a vehicle resembling the suspects’ getaway car on the R55 around 15:00 and attempted to intercept it. Instead, the suspects sped off, sparking a high-speed chase.
Aerial Support Deployed During High-Speed Pursuit
As the suspects tried to escape via the N14 on-ramp towards Pretoria, Gauteng Traffic’s Air Wing was called in for aerial surveillance. When cornered, the suspects allegedly opened fire on police, prompting officers to retaliate. All four suspects were fatally wounded in the exchange.
A search of their white Hyundai sedan revealed three handguns, ammunition, and housebreaking tools. Investigators also discovered the vehicle carried false registration plates and a fraudulent licence disc.

Preliminary investigations suggest the group was connected to at least 18 house robberies across Tshwane and Johannesburg. Police spokesperson Brenda Moridili confirmed the link while addressing the media at the scene near the N14 freeway.
“Pathological experts are preparing to remove the suspects’ bodies from the scene near the N14 Freeway. The suspects are linked to a number of house robberies in the area as well in parts of Johannesburg,” said Moridili.
Police continue to comb the area for additional evidence.
