Four Dead, Three Injured After Toyota Avanza Overturns On N12 Near Middelburg

Tragedy struck along the N12 between Middelburg and Loskop Dam on Saturday afternoon, 25 October 2025, when a Toyota Avanza overturned, claiming four lives and leaving three others injured.

According to Mpumalanga Community Safety spokesperson Moeti Mmusi, the victims included three women and a young boy who were declared dead at the scene.

“One person was seriously injured, while two more occupants, including the driver, escaped with slight injuries,” said Mmusi.

Investigation Launched Into N12 Fatal Crash

Authorities have since launched an investigation into the cause of the fatal crash. While the exact cause remains unclear, Mmusi said reckless or negligent driving could not be ruled out at this stage.

Emergency services responded swiftly, with the injured rushed to nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment. The road was temporarily closed to allow rescue and recovery operations, causing brief traffic disruptions in the area.

Local authorities have urged motorists to exercise extra caution, especially along the province’s busy routes.
