“3 Suitcase Killers” To Face Justice In Previn Pillay Murder Case
The State has set out to obtain justice and have unveiled the alleged plot behind the gruesome murder of Previn Pillay, whose decapitated and mutilated body was found in a burning suitcase at Hazendal Train Station in Athlone nearly five years ago.
Riefaat Loofer, Glenville Jansen, and Franklin van Niekerk are set to stand trial for Pillay’s murder to gain justice.

The suspects are facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder, robbery, murder, and defeating the ends of justice.
Business Deal Gone Wrong?
According to the indictment, Pillay had entered into a business partnership with Loofer and had deposited money into his bank account.
The State alleges that Loofer, considered the mastermind, orchestrated the murder.

A month prior to the murder, Loofer rented a property in Sea Point, where cellphone records show he and Jansen were present on the day of the murder.
Pillay was last seen leaving his home to meet Loofer in Sea Point, after which his vehicle was driven to different locations, stripped, and abandoned.
Investigation And Arrests
In its effort to gain justice for the victim, the Provincial Organised Crime Unit tracked down Van Niekerk first, followed by Jansen, and eventually, Loofer, who was living among homeless men under a bridge in Woodstock.

Shockingly, Loofer’s cellphone records reveal he booked an e-hailing cab to Hazendal Train Station on the day Pillay’s body was discovered, further implicating him in the crime.
The trial will determine the fate of the trio accused of this heinous crime as well as grant justice to the murdered victim.
