3 Robbery Suspects Arrested In Tongaat, KZN — Fake Firearm And Stolen Goods Recovered

Three robbery suspects were apprehended in Gandhi’s Hill, Tongaat, KwaZulu-Natal, this morning (Saturday) after members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) intercepted a suspicious vehicle and recovered a replica firearm.
Reaction Officers, who were returning from an unrelated house fire, noticed a silver VW Polo without registration plates parked along Metcalf Road. As officers approached, one suspect fled on foot while the driver attempted to speed away in the vehicle.

Replica Firearm and Stolen Items Recovered
One Reaction Officer gave chase on foot and successfully apprehended the fleeing suspect, finding a blank firearm in his possession. At the same time, backup officers intercepted and stopped the escaping vehicle.

While securing the scene, a female victim approached the officers, reporting that the same men had robbed her of her cellphone and wallet. Her belongings were later recovered inside the suspect’s vehicle.

However, the victim declined to open a case, explaining that she needed to urgently get to work.

The suspects remain in custody as RUSA officers liaise with the Tongaat SAPS to determine whether the men are linked to other criminal cases in the region. According to RUSA, the arrests were made at approximately 05:53.
