23-Year-Old Man Arrested For Alleged Murder Of 17-Year-Old Girl

In a tragic incident in Kanyamazane, a 23-year-old man has been arrested for the alleged murder of a 17-year-old girl.

According to the police, the victim was last seen by her family around 05:45 on Friday, 14 March, 2025, when she left home to catch a bus to school.

The following evening, today Saturday 15, March 2025, police were alerted to an inquest at Extension 16 in Kanyamazane at approximately 17:30.

Police Investigation

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered the suspect, who initially pretended to be a concerned complainant.

He led the police to a room where the lifeless body of the young girl was found.

Shockingly, the victim was still in her school uniform, with a rope around her neck and another hanging from the roof.

The man claimed the room belonged to his brother and that he had no knowledge of the girl’s death.

However, based on the investigation so far, police believe the suspect is involved in the murder.

Suspect To Appear In Court As Investigation Ongoing

The suspect has been charged with murder and is scheduled to appear in Kanyamazane District Court on Monday, March 17, 2025.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death.

Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, the Acting Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Mpumalanga, condemned the killing of the young girl.

He also commended the police for their quick action in apprehending the suspect.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the full details of this tragic incident.
