Justice Served: Pietermaritzburg High Court Sentences Father To 22 Years For Daughter’s Murder

A devastating incident in Umthwalume has led to the sentencing of 34-year-old Siyabonga Wiseman Ndlovu to 22 years’ imprisonment. 

Ndlovu pleaded guilty to the murder of his two-year-old daughter and assaulting his ex-girlfriend in a horrific crime that unfolded in April 2024.

A Tragic Chain Of Events

The events leading up to the tragic murder began on April 3, 2024, when Ndlovu assaulted his ex-girlfriend with a stick, causing grievous bodily harm.

 The situation escalated weeks later when Ndlovu demanded to see his daughter, threatening to take her away.

 He then traveled to Esiqungeni, where the child was being cared for by her aunt, and forcefully removed her from custody.

In a shocking act of violence, Ndlovu strangled his two-year-old daughter, leading to her untimely death.

Sentence And Investigation

Ndlovu was sentenced to two years for the assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and 20 years for the murder of his daughter.

The police acted swiftly in response to the crime, registering a murder docket and apprehending Ndlovu shortly after.

 A thorough investigation by detectives from Hibberdene Police Station uncovered insurmountable evidence against Ndlovu, leading him to plead guilty to all charges.
