Following Cristiano Ronaldo’s dramatic comeback to English giants Manchester United, Brazil icon Pele forwarded a message to the Portuguese.
The Premier League club confirmed on Tuesday that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has returned to the club after a 12-year absence. Ronaldo demonstrated on Wednesday that he hasn’t lost his goal-scoring touch, scoring both of Portugal’s goals in a 2-1 win over the Republic of Ireland in a 2022 Soccer World Cup qualifier.
With 111 goals, Ronaldo became the all-time leading scorer in men’s international football. While the 36-year-career old’s is coming to an end, Pele still holds him in high regard. Ronaldo has built a good relationship with Brazilian icon Pele who has said previously that Ronaldo is a better player than PSG’s Argentine star Lionel Messi.
“There is no better feeling than conquering the world and returning home. Always be happy, Cristiano,” Pele wrote.
Ronaldo later responded: “It’s always great to come back to a home where we’ve already been happy… Thank you very much for your support, Pele.”
