This morning was filled with tears as friends and family bid goodbye to Anele “Nelli” Tembe who was engaged to South African rapper AKA. The Fela In Versace hitmaker was also spotted during the funeral service and pain and misery were written all over his face.

The fiancée of the rapper passed away over the weekend after she fell from the 10th floor of a hotel in Cape Town. The deceased’s father, Mr Tembe, took the podium and described his daughter as someone that was full of life.  Reflecting on Anele’s life, Mr Tembe says no one in his family would’ve associated her with taking her own life.

He then said his daughter was never suicidal and did not commit suicide. He blamed drugs and alcohol as the main cause of her death. Following that he discouraged substance abuse among the youth.

“As Anele’s father, I categorically state that Anele was neither suicidal nor did she commit suicide. We must as a matter of priority deal with the scourge that bedevils our youth. Alcohol which is overused and drugs. Fellow South Africans we better wake up and smell the coffee, we have a serious problem with substance abuse.”

He then turned to AKA empathising with him & acknowledged his pain. In the same breadth advised him to surrender his life to Christ going forward. “I know the pain that you are in my son I invite you to turn to the Lord and you will become a better man,” said Anele’s dad.

He said he knew of their relationship and approved and knew that Kiernan loved his daughter.
