That’s so not African of her. Itumeleng Khune’s estranged wife Sphelele Makhunga might not be as well as disciplined as many thought.
Khune and his wife have been said to be experiencing marital problems since last year. It was also revealed that out of anger Mrs Khune packed her bags and left the soccer player drowning in tears leading him to perform very badly during Kaizer Chiefs matches.
And now a few days ago the Khune’s were struck by misfortune as they lost their sister Mapula. She died in the early hours of Thursday morning as fire broke out in their home. It was later alleged that a 17-year-old boy was the one who committed this horrible act.
On Monday, the suspect appeared in the Ventersdorp Children’s Court, to face a charge of murder. SAPS confirmed the details on Sunday, revealing that the boy was taken into custody on Friday.
Khune rushed to North West on Thursday morning but his wife who’s currently in KZN didn’t follow him It was expected that she’ll arrive later in the day or the following morning as she’s still a makoti to the Khunes.
But too much disappointment Sphelele has not set her foot at Khune’s home since his sister passed on. A close source revealed this and said that it came as surprise to many as that’s no how she was raised. “People close to her have tried talking to her but she has continued like it business as usual despite the fact the same family which is mourning has paid her lobola.”
When asked what her anger was the source said: “I’ll not lie, Sphe doesn’t want to talk about it though in the past she said she was willing to work things but now it seems like all that has changed.”
SurgeZirc SA request for comment has been sent to Sphelele but it hasn’t been returned.
