From losing his dead to going through the worst ordeal of his career. Problems have been following Cebolenkosi Mthembu who stars as Nyawo on SABC 1’s popular series Uzalo.
The actor who is multitalented and has a good educational background might regret decisions he made in the past as his future in the entertainment industry is hanging by thread. The star who possesses an Electrical Engineering qualification had a good-paying job at Eskom, where he was a technician inspector. However, when he landed in the entertainment industry he decided to follow his passion and let go of his nine to five job.
He took up a job at a community radio station Vibe FM and also on Uzalo. But now calamity has faced Cebolenkosi right in the eyes. He and his dad contracted COVID-19 earlier this year and he had to stop work for some time. Unfortunately, his dad lost the battle and died in January.
“I was diagnosed with Covid-19 at the beginning of this year. My father was too. He died on 3 January. After my self-isolation, I was cleared of Covid, so I went back to work,” he said during an interview with Daily Sun.
Going further, the star explained that he has temporary stop work at Vibe FM as he lost his voice at the beginning of February. “My voice just disappeared this month. I went back to consult a doctor, but he gave me something for Covid. I have tried drinking honey and Vitamin C supplements, but nothing is working,” said Cebolenkosi.
Cebolenkosi went on to explain that he was more concerned as Uzalo is about to shoot for season seven, he has learnt that he has so many scenes but he’s worried he is not going to make it.
The star revealed how the state of his health (voice) has left him depressed. “And the community radio presenters like myself hope that big radio stations would hire them for their new changes. Bur honestly, which radio station could hire someone who is voiceless. I’m scared. I don’t know what to do now. My voice is my everything. Now that I have lost it, I feel like I’m losing everything.”
