At times an actor can be so convincing that viewers even forget that it’s not real life. And that’s the case with Simphiwe Majozi who plays the role of Sbu on Uzalo.

The character of Sbu is one full of jokes and is never taken serious due to his action and how he always exaggerates every situation. However, being Sbu has affected the actor in real life and now Simphiwe wishes for another role, or if he can’t get another one he wishes for the popular series to change his character to a serious one.

But what will Uzalo be with Sbu and his jokes? Speaking to Daily Sun the star said the role has affected his other projects as almost everyone just sees him as Sbu. Majozi said: “I enjoy playing Sbusiso and I believe I’m playing him well. But it’s highly worrying that most of my fans can’t differentiate between Sbusiso and Simphiwe.

“When they see me, they ask questions and laugh. Even when I try to be serious, they continue laughing,” said Simphiwe. “The fact that people laugh when they see me means that I’m playing the Sbusiso character very well. But I don’t want them to laugh every time they see me,” he said.

Simphiwe added that he hopes to get a serious role in future. “Maybe if I get a serious role such as that of a pastor or a responsible family member, that will change how people look at me,” he said.
