It was difficult at first as she thought it wouldn’t be possible to leave him and you’d know African married women are always advised to hold the knife where it cuts most. Millicent said that like most African women she had the belief of holding in marriage.
“Whatever that happens in your marriage, you don’t tell anyone. It doesn’t matter what you’re going through but don’t tell people. You hold on…you become strong, you pray for your relationship, you pray for your marriage, you pray for your husband. But don’t tell anyone about what you going through. So you die in silence… you die alone,” She said as she expressed the pains she went through in her marriage.
Millicent also said that many abused women stayed in their marriages because of the “what will people say if I leave” mentality. When all she could take was enough, the actress said she gathered courage to walk away. Now, she has healed and found herself someone else.
