Dell laptops will soon connect with iPhones freely. Meanwhile, being in the Apple ecosystem is better when all your gadgets are apple so they can all work together. The discouragement most of the people who like the iPhone are having is that it can’t blend with their other devices that aren’t apple. Very soon, a Dell laptop will become a nice replacement for the Mac, even for iPhone owners.
Dell announced on Thursday that its latest update on Dell Mobile Connect software will let you transfer files and apps from iPhone to Dell devices.
According to the company, the feature is coming to Dell’s XPS, Inspiron, Vostro, Alienware, and G Series, after an update that is rolling out this spring. Meanwhile, Dell Mobile Connect, which has been around from 2018 until now, already does the same thing for Android phones.
For those using iPhone, you’ll have to download the free Dell Mobile Connect app from Apple’s App Store. For now, it’ll allow you to send and receive text messages. You can also initiate and answer phone calls, get notifications, and surf through your iPhone’s contact book from your laptop.
You won’t get the app mirroring and file transferring functionality as yet until it is officially released. It’s not certain if most Apple brand users would want to switch to Dell products because of other unique feature of Apple products that are yet to be seen in Dell.
But for those who are using iPhone needs to make a choice between a MacBook and Dell laptops XPS, the problem will be resolved at once.
The Verge says that Dell Mobile Connect will only allow users to transfer photos and videos, and it may remain that way until the launch of the new features. It may not be the best but it’s sure better than nothing.
