Nomcebo Zikode is currently in hot waters and facing arrest as she is being investigated for breaking the lockdown regulations.
This comes after a video made rounds with the Xola Moya Wam performing at a News Cafe in Limpopo which was overcrowded.
Nomcebo was the one who posted the video on her Twitter timeline little did she know that it’ll cause controversy. She captioned her post: “Thanks a lot Thavhani Mall News Cafe, Thohoyandou, Venda.”
As soon as fans started asking her if they had observed the lockdown regulations, the singer quickly went on to delete the video. Unfortunately, in this digital age, it was too late for her the video was already on YouTube.
In the video Nomcebo could be seen leading a sing-along, encouraging audience members to sing into her microphone. She was flanked by dancers who pressed up against her while she was performing.
The crowd of excited fans could be seen huddled together with no social distancing and no wearing of masks. Now, both the company and the singer are being probed for breaking Covid-19 lockdown regulations and put lives at risk.
The singer team said that it was the venue’s responsibility to ensure that all precautionary measures were taken.
“If we are called for a performance, whenever, wherever, it is the owner or management of the venue who are supposed to ensure requirements for Covid-19. As a performer, Nomcebo does not have the power to do all those things.
“Where were the police if the venue was overcrowded? I don’t like that people are saying she participated in it. She is a performer,” Bongani Dube said.
He could not comment on whether Nomcebo raised objections when she saw the size of the crowd.
“It was at night. We did one song. We did our show and we left. We did not stay there,” he said.
We wishing Nomcebo Zikode the best of luck with this one.
