Department of Health has allocated 2369 internship programme in the history of South Africa. The interns have joined health workforce in 2029.
In addition, about 41 Medical interns have studies abroad and have passes their exams well and now are being allocated to the various provinces across the country.
The Minister of Health Dr Zweli Mkhize, has confirmed that the country will soon welcomes 650 graduates from Nelson Mandela Fidel Castro medical programme. They will begin their integration preparation of their qualification practice in South Africa.
However, this recruitment phenomenal drive forms part of the programme that emanate from the resolution of the Presidential health compact.
Mkhize said that Human Resource for health is the first pillar of Presidential health compact. He said its Premier position amongst the nine pillars highlights the importance of government places on strengthening and sustaining Department health.
“Without doctors, there is no health system. I am proud of Department achievement to ensure that South African health fraternity continue to grow,” he said.
He said that as a Minister of health, he is proud to have met some of these young Doctors. He is pleasant about the passion they have to contribute in fight COVID-19 and also contribution to Universal Health Coverage.
