Mangaliso Ngema has been axed from the popular SABC 2 drama series, Lithapo. This comes after young actresses who work with him came out desperately seeking for their voice to be heard.
Lorraine Moropa was the first young lady who had the courage to speak out about the unspeakable torture that they go through on sets.
Taking to her Instagram the actress wrote: “Being constantly sexually harassed by a male senior at a workplace can not and should not be tolerated. Your senior, someone who’s meant to guide and protect you in the entertainment industry, violates your human rights, that’s not even half the pain.
“This is a father, who also happens to speak highly of their daughter whom by the way, is practically my age and also in the industry. I wonder if he would appreciate his daughter coming home with half the stories I have to go home and tell my mother due to his actions.”
She was then supported by her colleagues this included male colleagues. On Tuesday a lot of actresses decided to post Mangaliso Ngema’s pic without a caption to show that they stand with their fellow colleague.
Later in the day, we saw reports which confirmed that Mangaliso was fired by Quizzical Pictures who is responsible for the television show which airs on SABC2.
No criminal charges have been laid against the actor as he is still innocent until proven guilty.
NOTE: No official criminal charges have been laid against Mr Ngema, as I post this.
He is still entitled to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty by the court of law. #KgopoloReports
