Five men have been arrested and charged with illegal hunting in the Northern Cape over the weekend, police reported.
Police spokesperson Brig Mohale Rametsaba said police were keeping watch on Saturday when they received a complaint about a suspicious car driving at fast and rapid speed in the main road in Kuruman.
Five men, aged between 20 and 42, were driving a white Toyota bakkie when they were told to pull up, Rametsaba added.
Cops found one gemsbok, one kudu and one wildebeest in the Toyota bakkie. The animals were all worth R30,000.
The cops also discovered one rifle and nine rounds of ammunition.
The five men were apprehended and are supposed to appear in the Kuruman magistrate’s court on Monday.
