When we talk about multi-talented celebrities Gigi Lamayne is also listed in that category. A lot of people aren’t aware of this but the female rapper did drama in high school and umoghel isn’t about to let her drama skills go to waste as she gracefully enters the presenting world to expand her brand.
The shows name is called (Hair Jury) which will be screening on our TV’s from the 1st of April on Soweto Tv( DSTV channel 251) so good people be on the lookout because I personally think Gigi is going to kill this!
The show is based on celebrating and commemorating black people’s hair.
The female Rapper explained on Twitter that this has always been on her dream list, and like all dreams, they eventually do come true.
”I’ve always been somewhat a liker of entertainment – not solely confined to music, but everything around the industry ” she said.
”I was also a very strong student in high school, so I mean that a place I’ve always wanted to play in. It’s crazy how the particular role is what I’m interested in, such as hair politics and so on.”
Gigi elaborated that the presenting gig was offered to her at last year’s South African Music Awards (Samas), where she met the founder of the African Hair Awards.
”The African Hair Awards people approached me. They had initially met me at last years South African Awards and we got on like a house on fire. We did a bit of review on my hair that night. We basically spoke about hair.
”One of the founders came up to me and said, ‘Look, this is a project we are working on and we thought that you’d be perfect for that. We don’t want someone who’ll read a transcript, we want somebody who’ll understand what they’re reading and someone who’ll find it interesting.”
Gigi added that the series was an ”amazing” concept whereby a judging panel will discuss everything concerning black hair.
Some of you may be wondering if our Fufa hitmaker can balance her music career and her presenting career and this is what she said.
”I don’t say presenting should be looked at as some sort of job or a way to get by. Its something I genuinely enjoy, so it’s not really about me juggling anything. It’s just me doing two different things that I like .”
