EFF members of parliaments and supporters used their hard hats to assault security who was asked to throw them out for wearing their red overalls to the Eastern Cape legislature on Tuesday.
The commotion started the moment speaker Helen Sauls-August ordered sergeant-at-arms, Thembekile Mzantsi to call for the guard to take out Economic Freedom Fighters who had declined to vacate the house of Parliament.
Sauls-August had ordered the EFFs member of parliament to vacate the house claiming that they were dressed inappropriately.
EFF members and supporters who had been sitting in the public gallery made an entrance to the chambers and beat the security personnel using their hard hats.
DispatchLIVE captured the video footage as fists and punches flew across the room and there was blood as the brutality broke out. Some security officers were spotted with blood spots on their white shirts.
The debate was supposed to be premier Oscar Mabuyane’s state of the province address.
After EFF MPLs and party members finally gave in and vacated the chambers, legislature staff were left cleaning the blood off the floor. Because of the violence, the debate was delayed for over an hour.
They are removing our MPLs from the Eastern Cape Legislature the EFF constituency in the Eastern Cape would never allow. The bouncers who assaulted a woman was dealt with..
