Liverpool’s Premier League unbeaten run continues with a narrow 0-1 victory against hopeless Norwich as they ride with confidence to end a 30-year drought.
Sadio Mane moved in from the bench to net the only goal of the match with only 12 minutes remaining, brilliantly taking down skipper Jordan Henderson’s raking pass and smashing in at the near post.
After beaten Norwich, Liverpool needs only five more wins from their remaining 12 matches to stabilize their hope of lifting their first Premier League title after many years of merely wishing, having dropped just two points all campaign.
The first half was all the way tough for both sides with no goal at all, but Liverpool took a confidence charge of the system in the second half – Canaries goalkeeper Tim Krul making a stunning double save to disappoint Mohamed Salah’s effort to score and Naby Keita’s close-range follow-up as well.
Having been pegged back for a long period, Norwich could have scored on the counter-attack as Alex Tettey’s strike from an angle caught Alisson by surprise at his near post but the effort rattled the foot of the upright.
Senegal international, Sadio Mane came in from the bench to decide the faith of the match by scoring the winner after missing their last two matches as a result of a hamstring injury.
