African National Congress (ANC) employees Christmas celebrations were dampened as their salary payments were delayed.
On Sunday the ANC employees stated the delay cost them heavy bank charges and there was no light shared as to why this happened or if it would happen again.
On Christmas day the ANC veteran Carl Niehaus took to social to say that he was heartbroken as he didn’t get paid. Niehaus further said that he won’t be able to celebrate his 60th birthday or visit his daughter who was about to become a mother.
Some of the staff said they had received their salaries whilst some said they were still waiting for notifications.
They said, as a result, they failed to honour their monthly commitments like debit orders, which cost them bank charges. The employees – who didn’t want to be named – said they were now nervous about what would happen in January because the party had not communicated why their salaries were delayed.
