The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) long waited second elective conference has finally arrived. The elections of its top leadership during its national people’s assembly began on Friday.
Several red berets delegates descended to the south of Johannesburg at Nasrec on Friday, where the party’s future plans would be mapped out.
The party has spent over R32m on this elective conference in just offering its delegates VIP treatment, treasurer-general Leigh-Ann Mathys told journalists on Friday.
She further added that the huge sum of money was spent on transporting delegates and obtaining space at the Nasrec expo centre.
“We have now increased our seats in Parliament. We have pretty much doubled in Parliament and also at all our legislatures. Our income from the IEC (Electoral Commission of SA), from Parliament and from the provincial legislatures has pretty much doubled since June 2014,” the treasurer-general stated.
