Jose Mourinho has landed a new contract as Tottenham Spurs new coach after signing a contract that is scheduled to last till the end of the 2022-23. Spurs issued the following statement confirming the appointment Wednesday:
‘We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jose Mourinho as Head Coach on a contract that runs until the end of the 2022/23 season.”
Mourinho who has been out of job since he was sacked form Manchester United while speaking to newsmen following his appointment said: ”The quality in both the squad and the academy excites me. Working with these players is what has attracted me.”
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy spoke out in support of their new appointment to Mourinho who has reportedly turned down lots of jobs before clinching on this saying:
“In Jose we have one of the most successful managers in football.”
The new Tottenham Spurs boss assignment starts right away at this Saturday’s League game against West Ham.
Tottenham are currently placed 14th and have struggled to return to the kind of form that saw them reaching the Champions League finals. Jose has a difficult uphill battle ahead of him as the end of the season will also see Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen most probably leaving the Tottenham side.
We all wish the new boss all the best in his latest appointment.
